Dael says thank you

A reader believes that random acts of kindness can heal South Africa.

ON Saturday, 24 February, at approximately 8am, my dad Bob Bishop (86), was driving along Umhlanga Rocks Drive when he had a blow-out in his front tyre. He couldn’t stop so he drove on the rim towards Longwoods Drive. He was a little perturbed to say the least, as at his age he didn’t know if could remember how to change a tyre, let alone lift it out if the boot.

Then along comes a car with a young couple who are in jogging clothes. The guy jumps out and says to my dad, ‘You stand there, I’ve got this for you.’
Needless to say, the tyre was changed in the blink of an eye. My dad wanted to give them some money for their trouble as he would have paid to get it sorted out anyway, but they refused and said it was a pleasure to help. Jumped back in their car and were off.

He only got the registration number, if you are able to print it, ND 30981. He would like to say he is enormously grateful. We believe that to practice random acts of kindness is to heal this country in its time of turmoil.
