Call for fishermen to behave responsibly

Fishermen need to behave a lot more responsibly to retain the few privileges they have.

WE would like to express our sadness having read the article of the death of the woolly-necked stork on page 3 of the Northglen News dated 29 May. Recreational fishing is a huge sport in this country, larger than rugby and cricket combined. Along our beachfront are limited facilities for fishermen to enjoy their sport, the upgraded Blue Lagoon area being one.

However, fishermen need to behave a lot more responsibly to retain the few privileges they have. Used fishing line left lying around is a real hazard to both wildlife and pets.
