Monkeys are here to stay, get used to it

Who is responsible for monkeys having to scavenge for food?

Editor

IN response to PR Prangley’s letter, I would like to ask, just where do you think the monkeys must go, and secondly, who is responsible for the monkeys having to scavenge looking for food?

It is man who has taken away the majority of their feeding areas, so what must they do? The monkeys do not stay in any one area for a long time, they just pass through and not even every day. When they arrive, close your doors or put up monkey proofing – as I have done on the doors I keep open. They are here to stay, so get used to it.

With regard to your comment of some owners considering ‘other means of curbing this menace’ (as you call the monkeys), this is illegal and anyone found doing anything to the monkeys will be prosecuted. Monkeys are not a menace, they too are just trying to live, and should be the least of our problems.
