Heartfelt thank you to kind couple

A victim of a hit and run accident says thank you to a couple who assisted her.

ON Saturday, 4 October at 5.10pm I was driving home in the single lane on Umhlanga Rocks Drive towards Somerset Park when I was hit by a “hit and run” motorist driving a white single cab Isuzu bakkie.
The traffic was busy. The driver of the bakkie swerved into my lane because he was coming too fast to stop behind the car in front of him which had stopped at the robot. Luckily I was not injured as he only hit and damaged my right hand side back. I drew to the left and looking back, I saw him drop two male passengers at the robot and then drive on.

The couple who were behind the bakkie when he hit me went through the robot, turned back as soon as they could and came up behind me. They had recorded all the bakkie’s details and offered to help me drive to the police station. Although they had been inconvenienced they were so helpful and kind.

I drove to the Umhlanga Police Station only to be informed that they were closed for the weekend. I turned back and went to the Durban North Police Station. Although there were many police men and women in the office laughing and joking and I was the only person needing attention, their attitude was arrogant and of disregard.

However I am deeply grateful to kind citizens Mr and Mrs Kash Gounden who went out of their way and were so helpful.
