Had enough of the haphazard dumping

EDITOR - We are sick and tired of people dumping in residential areas.

On Tuesday, Heritage day, we noticed a pile of rubble being dumped opposite the new Checkers in Virginia. We then noticed it getting larger and larger as the day went by.

I then waited outside my property to see the culprits with their Chana Bakkie fully loaded with another load of rubble, polysterine and more rubbish.

I confronted the men and they acted in shock, pretending not to know where to dump this but there is a big ‘No Dumping’ sign visible.

We have been living in Virginia for a year now and are disgusted to see the state across our driveway.

Being ratepayers and proud to live in the Durban North area, I can not believe how inconsiderate people are about dumping.

Obviously these people are doing a job for somebody else and being paid for it, and being told to dump at the dumps, however, they just dump where they like.

I don’t feel people are being fined and that any action is being taken.

Also, I have contacted law enforcement previously for a clean-up and the minimal is always done.
