In a second incident, another decomposing body was discovered at a housing complex in Cornubia on Monday just after 21:00.
According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) a resident requested assistance after they made the discovery.
“The extensively bloated and decomposed body of a male was found hanging by a rope fastened to a burglar bar. His identity was confirmed by neighbours. Reaction officers were informed that the male was last seen consuming alcohol with friends last Thursday (March 6),” explained RUSA spokesperson Prem Balram.
“His family attempted making telephonic contact with the deceased since, but his cellphone went unanswered. Neighbours contacted his family yesterday afternoon and informed them of a decaying smell emanating from the home. A friend proceeded to the residence and found the door unlocked. He entered the home and made the discovery. Circumstances leading up to the man’s death have not been established.”
