Mall ‘signs’ up for uplifting La Lucia

The mall took on the responsibility of erecting the new sign as the previous sign was in disrepair.

A POPULAR shopping mall in La Lucia has taken the first step in ensuring that the area is welcoming to visitors and residents by replacing an old sign with a brand new one.

La Lucia Mall management saw that the signage leading the community to the mall was worn out and, in a proactive move, had the new sign installed on the recently re-opened Armstrong Road last Thursday.

“When the road leading to the circle at Armstrong Avenue was re-opened, we noticed that the sign was in total disrepair, so we arranged for a new sign to be installed. It is important that the community and visitors to the province are able to locate us easily,” said centre manager Vanessa Blevins.

The bottom of Armstrong Avenue was prone to flooding during heavy rain, particularly under the M4 bridge, which prompted the eThekwini Municipality to upgrade the stormwater culvert.

“This upgrade was most welcome by La Lucia Mall as it will ensure the safety of the community. We hope that the City will complete remedial works and beautification of this La Lucia traffic circle soon,” she added.
