Supporters walk for freedom at Blue Lagoon

The walk attracted various people who all want to fight against human trafficking.

THIS year’s Anti-Human Trafficking Walk, organised by the Umgeni Community Empowerment Centre, sent out a message that it will continue everything in its power to stop human trafficking.

Speaking at the event, the founder of the centre, Gloria de Gee, said that the organisation needed all hands on deck to decrease the number of human trafficking cases.

“The event was a huge success, and we certainly did create the awareness that was needed, but there is more work that needs to be done. We need whistle-blowers to report information to the authorities, and we need to educate our children on the dangers that lurk,” she said.

Talks and demonstrations were given by activists after the 5km walk.
