Two dead in horror stabbing on Sim Place

A woman in her 70s and a teenager were killed in the attack.

TWO people have been killed in a horrific stabbing attack in their home on Sim Place, in Effingham, on Wednesday morning (October 2).

Members from various security groups, including Swift Private Security and Marshall Security, as well as Greenwood Parks SAPS, responded to the incident just after 10:00.

It is believed that a suspect, who is known by the family, is under police guard in hospital following the incident.

ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said that paramedics found three people with multiple stab wounds.

“Paramedics responded to reports of people stabbed in a home on Sim Place. They found that three members of a family had sustained multiple stab wounds. A female, believed to be in her 70s, was declared deceased on arrival while a teenager, who was also stabbed multiple times succumbed to his injuries. A third person, a woman, was also treated on scene and rushed to hospital,” he said.

Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell extended his condolences to the family following the incident.

“Greenwood Park SAPS and a private ambulance service attended to an elderly woman, approximately 50 years of age, who had sustained severe lacerations to her neck and arms. Tragically, in another room of the residence, paramedics and SAPS discovered an elderly woman and a teenage boy who had been severely injured and were declared deceased. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, but it is suspected to be domestic-related,” he said.

Northglen News has also reached out to Greenwood Park Police for comment but was unsuccessful at the time of going to print.
