Avoca robber sentenced to 15 years following conviction

The convicted criminal was sentenced for his role in an armed robbery in February this year.

A MAN has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for his role in a house robbery in the Avoca area in February this year.

Sandile Langeni was sentenced to 15 years following his arrest and investigations by Greenwood Park SAPS detectives.

Langeni attacked and robbed a resident of their belongings at their home on Avoca Road in the incident.

Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell said Langeni pleaded guilty in the Durban Magistrate’s Court.

“Following a thorough investigation by Greenwood Park SAPS detectives, and countless court dates over the course of seven months, Langeni was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment and found unfit to possess a firearm. This successful conviction highlights the collaboration between Marshall Security and the Greenwood Park SAPS working endlessly together to make communities safe.

“We commend Detective Sergeant Mhlongo for her dedication and effort in ensuring justice for the victims involved. The victim of this horrendous crime must also be commended for their involvement and attending the court cases to ensure justice is served,” he said.
