Rotary Club of Umhlanga focuses on Literacy Month

The Rotary Club of Umhlanga is looking for pre-loved books and novels to be donated towards their book drive.

AS September is Literacy Month in South Africa, the Rotary International has created a campaign to focus on creating a more literate world.

The campaign is called Basic Education and Literacy Month, and the Rotary Club of Umhlanga is doing a book collection drive.

“I believe that we should not let our books just get old and collect dust. Just as it meant a great deal to us when we first received these books, so someone less fortunate can have the same experience,” said Rotary Club of Umhlanga president Cohan Arjoon.

The Club calls on the community to drop off novels and educational books at Granny Griffs in Durban North.
The collection runs until October 1, and books collected from the drive will be distributed to less fortunate schools and old age homes for reuse.

Granny Griffs can be found at 29B Uitsig Road, Prospect Hall, Durban North.
