Umgeni Park house breaking leads to arrest

The suspect was arrested in Briardene and taken to Greenwood Park for processing.

A NUMBER of items were stolen from a property in Umgeni Park yesterday morning.

Marshall Security Armed Response Officers responded to the home in Acutt Avenue and found that an intruder had broken a locked gate and gained entry to the property through a window space. The window was removed due to renovations.

While trying to flee, the suspect damaged the garage’s roller door, triggering the alarm system.

“That was when the client spotted the intruder fleeing,” said Marshall Security spokesperson, Tyron Powell.

“Hand tools, a sewing machine, and possibly other items yet to be confirmed were stolen from the property,” added Powell.

Members of Marshall Security’s special operations team together with Greenwood Park Trio Crimes successfully located and apprehended the suspect in the Briardene informal settlement at about 11.00.

The stolen property was recovered, and both the suspect and the recovered goods were taken to Greenwood Park SAPS for further investigation and processing.
