Three arrested in connection with uMhlanga housebreaking

One of the men arrested allegedly bought the stolen goods from the housebreaking suspects.

THREE suspects have been arrested for their alleged involvement in a housebreaking and theft incident at a home on Lagoon Drive in uMhlanga over the weekend.

Two of the suspects were arrested for housebreaking while a third was arrested for allegedly buying stolen goods.

The arrests were made by the Durban North SAPS Trio Crimes Unit who were working with Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team on Monday (September 16) at about 22:00.

Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell confirmed the suspects were arrested in KwaDabeka, west of Durban.

“In the break-in, the suspects gained access by forcing open a rear window, and they stole multiple electronic items and the keys to the homeowner’s Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. After loading the stolen goods into the homeowner’s vehicle, parked in the complex’s parking area, they fled the scene.

“The resident discovered the break-in the next morning and contacted the authorities, including the tracking company, which successfully traced the stolen vehicle to Chesterville where it was found abandoned by members of the SAPS,” he said.

Powell added that key intelligence led police and the tracking company to one of the suspects’ locations.

“The teams proceeded to a house in KwaDabeka where one of the suspects was apprehended with some of the stolen items. After questioning the suspect, the suspect provided information leading them to a second house in Chesterville where a second suspect was arrested. Further questioning revealed that the remaining stolen property had been sold to a foreign national in the same area. The collaborative teams proceeded to the identified location and successfully recovered the outstanding stolen goods while arresting the buyer,” he said.
