I heart Market Spring Sale

The I heart Market will feature a spring sale to welcome in the new season.

Spring has sprung, and the I heart Market is featuring their Spring Sale. Taking place at Northlands Primary School in Durban North on Saturday, September 7, this marks the second and final sale market of the year. The I heart Market offers a carefully curated selection of exclusive, innovative, handmade, homemade and locally designed products. Shoppers can expect to find a broad range of items, including unique crafts, art, fashion, jewellery, homeware, children’s goods and upcycled treasures. Alongside the shopping experience, visitors can indulge in a mouth-watering array of food in the food court, as well as craft gin and beer in the garden. There is a dedicated play area and a pram park, allowing adults to have a stress-free shopping experience. The school hall has air conditioning, guaranteeing a comfortable visit, rain or shine. There are also designated areas for parking within the school grounds and precinct, monitored by security guards.

Durban’s Street Food Festival

Durban’s Street Food Festival is back! Join the fun at the Pavilion Shopping Centre from Friday, September 6, to Sunday, September 8, for a three-day celebration of food, music and family-friendly fun. The festival promises a curated line-up of live music, featuring a range of genres.

On Friday, at 17:00, Bryan’s Percussion Marimba Band will warm up the crowd with infectious African rhythms, followed by the talented, young classical musicians of the KZN Youth Orchestra. Durban’s hard-rock, punk-rock, RnB and pop band, Wah Wah Baby, will take the stage on Friday night at 19:00, performing fresh arrangements of global Billboard Hits.

On Saturday at 16:00, Rocc Lobsters will entertain the crowd, and a live-streaming of the massive Springboks vs All-Blacks Game will be shown on the big screen on the main stage in the Beer Garden. Gates open at 11:00 for the pre-party event, followed by the biggest Street Feast After-party. Foodies will delight in the range of globally inspired urban food options available from our food merchants. The mini-market will feature wares made by local crafters, designers and micro-entrepreneurs. Kids will have a blast in the sip-and-paint area, the jumping castles and various kids’ activities, with food options available for young tummies. Adults can enjoy the daily silent disco and Beer Garden. Get your tickets in advance through Quicket or at the door on the day.

For the thrill of the dance

The 26th JOMBA! Contemporary Dance Experience, hosted by the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Centre for Creative Arts 13-day feast of dance performances, workshops and discussions, takes place in Durban from August 27 to September 8 at venues around Durban.

Dancemakers from Germany, France, Japan, India, the USA and South Africa will feature. Key to the artistic exchange that happens at the festival are the various workshops and discussions taking place with these artists and other creatives. Artists include Jazzart (SA), Yaseen Manuel (SA), Boyzie Cekwana (SA), Maritri Garret (USA), Robyn Orlin (Germany/South Africa) and Deepak Kurki Shivaswamy (India). Yesterday’s Hero

Patrick Kenny will be starring in the comedy play, ‘Yesterday’s Hero’.

Get ready for a side-splitting comedy with Yesterday’s Hero, a hilarious one-man play about the highs and lows of being almost famous! Catch it at the Pumpkin Theatre in Ballito from Friday to Saturday, September 6 to 7, at 19:00. Written by and starring Patrick Kenny, the play follows his journey up and down the snakes and ladders of fame and fortune, from making waves as an ECR drive-time comedian to featuring in the New York Castle Lager TV advert, pushing a beer trolley, and landing a role as Dr Wallace on eTV’s soapie, Imbewu. Durban Fitcamp

Durban Fitcamp takes place every Saturday at Stella Court in Glenwood.

The fitness community is invited to the Durban Fitcamp morning exercise session, which takes place every Saturday at the Stella Courts in Glenwood from 07:00 to 09:00. The session includes step and box aerobics as well as cardio and muscle exercises. Free photos and videos are available. It costs R25 per person.
