Alleged Briardene burglar apprehended with stolen items

One of the three suspects was arrested at the scene, thanks to a vigilant eyewitness who promptly reported some suspicious activity.

AN ALLEGED burglar was stopped in his tracks in Stanhope Place, Briardene, on Monday morning after an eyewitness reported suspicious activity to Marshall Security.

“The caller suspected a potential business break-in, prompting an immediate response,” said Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell.

Armed response officers arrived at the scene and spotted three suspects, one of whom was promptly apprehended.

“The other two fled into a nearby informal settlement. Several bags containing stolen items were recovered at the scene,” added Powell.

After probing the suspect about how he came into possession of these items, it was established that they were taken from the Stanhope Place premises.

Greenwood Park SAPS is investigating further.
