Three arrests for three separate burglaries in Park Hill and Durban North

In each of the cases, the homeowners alerted law enforcement officers to the presence of the burglars.

OVER the course of three days, three suspects have been detained by Marshall Security in three separate incidents in Park Hill and Durban North for theft incidents.

On Wednesday morning (August 28), an alleged burglar was arrested after he’d forcefully gained access to the garage of a Park Hill home.

According to Tyron Powell, spokesperson for the security company, the incident occurred at about 05:30.

“We were alerted to the incident via a WhatsApp Crime Alert Group regarding a suspect climbing over a wall on Church Road in the Park Hill area. Our officers were dispatched to the scene and found the suspect was hiding on the property. The suspect was found in possession of a handsaw taken from the homeowner’s garage. It was determined he had forced open the garage roller door to gain entry. The suspect was transported to Greenwood Park SAPS, and a case of house-breaking is being investigated,” he said.

On Tuesday (August 27), in a separate incident, a resident, who had arrived home with her two children, spotted a suspect on her property.

“She fled the scene with her children and immediately contacted our emergency dispatch centre. The client provided a detailed description of the suspect, noting that he had stolen a cooler bag filled with towels.

“After a brief foot chase on Cranford Place, our officers successfully caught the suspect. The stolen items were recovered, and both the suspect and the stolen goods were handed over to Durban North SAPS,” he said.

In yet another burglary on Monday (August 26), a resident heard noises from her neighbour’s home on Conyngham Avenue and raised concerns about a possible break-in.

“The suspect was apprehended – he was found hiding in the yard. The suspect was found in possession of several aluminum pieces believed to be stolen from the property. The suspect was handed over to Greenwood Park SAPS,” he said.
