Lace up for Glenhills baby home

There are many ways to assist the Ray of Hope Babies Home such participating in the Lets Run event this weekend.

PUT on your running shoes and hit the road for the Lets Run for Ray of Hope Babies’ Home event which takes place this weekend.

Speaking about the second event of this nature for the home, the babies’ home volunteer, Sandie Piek, said the event was put together by Beloved Long Runs, an informal long-run group that hosts charity runs throughout the province.

This year’s event takes place at Willow Bean Cafe in La Lucia, starting at 06:00.

“The wonderful thing about this event is that there isn’t too much nitty gritty. There are no set distances so you can show up on the day with friends and family, register there and then and run for however many kilometres you want. There is also no fee involved, but we do ask that you bring along a bag of pre-loved clothing as an entry fee or donate any sum of money via Zapper or bring cash,” she said.

Linen and other gently used items, which can either be used at the home or resold to raise funds, are also welcome.

“The event is expected to finish at about 08:00. There will be lucky draws, as well. Registration is at 05:30,” she added.

Piek, together with her co-organiser, Lisa Lawson, invites all to attend the event and support the Ray of Hope Babies’ Home which turns 15 on September 1.

The home has taken care of hundreds of babies over the years, and united them with families from across the world.

“It’s a beautiful cause to support, and we encourage the community to get involved in any way they can,” she added.
