The Miss India South Africa finalist said she also can't wait to tour the US a little more and to be present while experiencing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

IZINGA’S Tekayha Sukuram will represent South Africa at the 31st Miss India Worldwide pageant next month.

“As the reigning title holder, I am now gearing up to head off to the United States of America next month to represent our beautiful country at the Miss India Worldwide 2024 pageant. I feel so grateful and honoured. Last year, I went to New York City to represent SA with regards to the performing arts, and this time, I get to do it for pageantry, so it’s really exciting,” said Sukuram who is also a 22-year-old B.com Accounting student as well as a dancer, actress and model.

Sukuram is a great supporter of women’s empowerment and improving the lives of children and people in general, so she launched her own non-profit organisation earlier this year, called The Changemakers.

The organisation is dedicated to assisting society in any and all ways possible while inspiring others to do the same.
At the launch, Sukuram partnered with EnviroSpecSA (a security services company) to help combat GBV (gender-based violence) in communities.

The project outline was to visit schools and conduct self-defence demonstrations for girls so they will have some knowledge on how to defend themselves if they are ever put in a compromising situation. Her future plans are to host skills development workshops.

“I’m looking forward to meeting all the other impactful women from other countries, as well as making memories that I willl cherish. Being a part of something that brings the international Indian community onto one platform is so inspiring and empowering,” she said.

“Now I’ll be able to do it on an international level and take The Changemakers with me. I also believe that it is so important to invest in others, invest in your community and use your unique talent to make a difference,” added Sukuram.
