Greenwood Park family held up by armed robbers

The robbers made off with several household goods and cash and escaped in an unknown red vehicle.

A GANG of robbers stormed a home on Sanderson Road in an armed robbery on Monday evening (August 5).

The incident, which occurred at about 20:10, also saw the robbers fire a shot in the air while fleeing the scene.

According to Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell, they were alerted to the incident via a WhatsApp community group.

“We were alerted about a shooting and people screaming in distress on Sanderson Place. It appears that four suspects entered the family’s residence and held them up. The stolen items include cellphones, bank cards, an undisclosed amount of cash and other household appliances.

“While fleeing the scene, the suspects fired one shot with a blank as evidenced by the spent cartridge found on the scene. The scene was secured by our team and handed over to the Greenwood Park SAPS,” he said.

Powell added that the robbers escaped in an unknown red vehicle and said that, fortunately, the victims were not physically harmed.
