The incident occurred near the taxi rank near Gateway Theatre of Shopping at about 13:30.

Even though the incident did not occur at the mall, they commented on the matter, offering their condolences to the victim.

“The perpetrators have been apprehended by the South African Police Service (SAPS), but sadly, the victim succumbed to their injuries, and Gateway Theatre of Shopping sends sincere condolences to the victim’s family and friends. Gateway prioritises the safety and security of all patrons, and the matter has been handed over to the South African Police Service (SAPS) and is currently being investigated further,” the mall said in a statement.

Last month, two men were arrested at a roadblock on the M41 near La Lucia, when police discovered a woman’s body in the back of their vehicle.

At the time, public relations officer for the Durban North CPF Darryl Oliver, who was also at the scene, confirmed that the woman’s body was covered with bags and cardboard in the back of the suspects’ vehicle.
