Spokesperson for ALS Paramedics, Garrith Jamieson, said the first accident occurred at the corner of Old Mill Way and Northway Road at 04:15 and involved a single vehicle.
“A single vehicle lost control and collided with a pole. A quick triage was done, and it was found that the driver, a male in his thirties, was deceased,” he said.
Three other occupants were stabilised and transported to hospital.
In a separate incident, just before 05:00, another crash on the M4 north near Glenashley claimed another life.
“Paramedics assessed both drivers and only occupants of the vehicles and found that one person had passed away as a result of his injuries. The second driver sustained minor injuries,” said Jamieson.
SAPS is investigating further.
