Vehicles stolen in north Durban areas recovered

One person was arrested in one of the stolen-vehicle recoveries after a stolen vehicle was found in La Lucia.

MEMBERS of Marshall Security recovered a stolen VW Polo while it was parked at a well-known shopping mall in La Lucia on Wednesday morning (July 24).

It was established that the stolen vehicle had been fraudulently purchased in the Sandton area.

According to Marshall Security’s Tyron Powell, the vehicle was one of two their Special Operations Team (SOT) had helped recover.

“In this case, the driver, who was identified as the fraudster responsible for the purchase, was immediately apprehended and handed over to Durban North SAPS, who arrived on the scene shortly after,” he said.

“Later that morning, members of our SOT were activated to assist Matrix Tracking with a Nissan Almera that had been reported stolen in the Phoenix area. After a brief track and search operation, the stolen vehicle was found abandoned on a property on Edgeley Road in the Park Hill area,” he said.

This is the third vehicle recovered this week after a Greenwood Park resident was hijacked outside his home on Monday night. The resident’s vehicle was later recovered near Inanda Dam and had been stripped.
