Armed gang hijack Greenwood Park resident

No arrests have yet been made in the incident which occurred on Firwood Road.

GREENWOOD Park SAPS are investigating a case of hijacking after a Firwood Road resident was accosted by a group of armed men in his driveway.

The incident occurred around 20:00 on Monday evening (July 22).

According to reports, the victim was unsuspecting as the suspects were using a vehicle similar in colour to one of his neighbour’s cars.

Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell said the suspects made off with the homeowner’s silver Toyota Corolla RXI.

“Reports from the scene indicate that four armed suspects pulled up next to the victim’s car – while he was returning home – in an unknown silver vehicle. One suspect instructed the victim to get out of his vehicle, thereafter fleeing the scene with the victim’s vehicle in an unknown direction.

“Details of the hijacked vehicle, a silver Toyota Corolla RXI, have been circulated to all our armed response officers and members of our Special Operations Team to be on the lookout. Fortunately, no injuries were reported on the scene,” he said.

No arrests have yet been made, however, the vehicle was recovered on Tuesday (July 23) near Inanda Dam.
