10 injured in Cornubia collision

When a taxi and an SUV collided at a junction near Cornubia Mall, a total of 10 occupants from both vehicles sustained various injuries.

AN accident involving a taxi and an SUV near the Cornubia Mall this morning has left several people injured.

ALS Paramedics responded to the crash to find occupants scattered on the roadway.

“It was chaos. A taxi and an SUV had collided in the junction before the taxi lost control and overturned. Multiple patients were scattered all over the roadway. More ambulances, as well as advanced life support paramedics, were dispatched to assist at the scene immediately,” said ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson.

After implementing the triage system, paramedics found that a total of 10 occupants from both vehicles had sustained various injuries.

“They were stabilised on the scene and transported to various Durban Hospitals for further care,” he said.

The cause of the accident is unknown at this stage, however, SAPS and metro police were in attendance and will be investigating further.
