Women’s empowerment event coming up in Durban North

The event provides an opportunity for women from all works of life to network and gain advice on holistic wellness plus take part in wellness activities or health check-ups.

After spending about six years of her life competing in pageantry, Storm Hurlbatt came into contact with and collaborated with many women-owned businesses that needed exposure and were always willing to help her with sponsorship, even when they had very little to give.

“As a financial advisor, I also come across many women-owned businesses, and for the last few years, it has been a dream of mine to launch a yearly wellness day. This year, I decided to do it. The event is aimed at uplifting small businesses in and around the Durban North area – while uplifting our community of women,” she said.

Seven speakers will take the floor on Saturday, June 30, at 65 St Andrew Drive, Durban North, offering advice on aesthetics, legal advice, financial advice, light therapy, educational assessments for children, model management and the key to having great-looking hair.

“Over 20 vendors will be present on the day. Supporters can join in on a yoga session and self-defence class. We will have a medical machine on-site that will be doing full medicals, including blood pressure, body fat, body water, SPO2, metabolic age, weight, height, heart rate and other measurements,” she added.

Beauticians from Estee Lauder and Bobbie Brown will be doing some makeovers, and vendors will be ready with samples and demonstrations should anyone have any questions.

“There will also be amazing giveaways, and the first 100 ticketholders will receive a goodie bag with product testers, vouchers, a free will and exciting gifts from various vendors. Of course, there will be food and a gin garden so everyone can sit back and relax,” she said.

Hurlbatt stressed that the event is open to every woman, in business or not, who wants to network and gain advice on holistic wellness.

“This is a non-profit event. Ticket fees go back into the running costs of the event,” she added.
Tickets cost R100 through Webtickets.
