“We were so pleased to have Janet Simpkins from Adopt-A-River SA who did a presentation on litter reduction and maintaining our waterways, beaches and ocean. We also had Romario Valentine, a youth environmental campaigner and author of Protect our Planet. The Magic Bean Foundation had a demonstration on how to crochet with yarn made from recycled plastic.

“We also had Convert the Dirt, with a compost-making workshop and presentation on microbes in healthy soil, and Nu Eco environmentally friendly cleaning products on reducing chemical pollution. The children added their own fun and creativity to the day by each creating their own bag from recycled and upcycled materials. The judges were astounded by the creativity and range of useful bags, from shoppers to tool bags, gym totes to fashion clutches,” she said.
