Man taken in for questioning after two lion cubs were found in Westville

A criminal case of the National Environmental Management Act has been opened at Westville SAPS.

A 23-YEAR-OLD man was taken in for questioning this afternoon after two cubs were found at a property in Westville.

Westville SAPS communications officer said the SPCA received an anonymous call with regards to the cubs kept in Westville.

“SPCA, together with SAPS and KZN Ezemvelo Wildlife, approached the property, [and confirmed that] the information was positive.”

According to Captain Elizabeth Squires, Westville detectives will investigate as a criminal case of the National Environmental Management Act has been opened.
