Copper cable thief nabbed in Durban North
The suspected thief, who was apprehended by a local security company, was arrested by the Durban North SAPS after they were notified of the incident.
A COPPER cable thief was stopped in his tracks while stealing copper pipes in Wimbledon Place in Durban North this morning.

“At approximately 07.35, the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre received a call from a member of the public reporting a house-breaking in process. Upon arrival, our team caught the suspect in the act of stealing copper pipes from the premises,” said Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell.
After noticing the armed response officers, the suspect attempted to flee with the stolen copper pipes but was subsequently apprehended after an extensive search.
Durban North SAPS was notified and arrived on scene shortly after the copper cable thief was apprehended.
“The arrest took place on Cranford Place, where the suspect was found with multiple pieces of copper piping. The property owner was informed and expressed a desire to press charges against the suspect,” added Powell.
Durban North SAPS transported the suspect to the police station for further investigation and processing.
