Accused in Umgeni Park gallery owner’s murder to appear in court tomorrow

Six men are due to appear in the Durban Magistrate's Court for the murder of Durban North art gallery owner Alan Gordon, where they will apply for bail.

THE brother of Durban North art dealer Alan Gordon, who was murdered in March, says he hopes the accused are not granted bail when they appear in Durban Magistrate’s Court tomorrow (April 12).

“I believe they are appearing in court tomorrow (April 12) for a bail application hearing. I am hoping that they are not granted bail. I want justice for my brother,” he said.

The six accused made their first appearance on March 15, five days after Alan’s body was found burnt and dumped in Ndwedwe.

He went missing from his Umgeni Park home on March 8, and his body was found on March 10 following an investigation by Greenwood Park SAPS.

Brian said life has changed drastically for the family, but especially for his elderly dad who waited on Alan’s daily calls and visits.

“My dad is 86 years old. He lives with a caregiver, but Alan would call him every day and visit. This tragedy has left a huge void in his life,” he said.

Brian commended SAPS for conducting a thorough investigation and for swiftly making the arrests.

“The investigating officers also attended my brother’s memorial at the end of March. They really did a great job making arrests so soon,” he said.
