uMhlanga businesswoman a semi-finalist in Mrs SA pageant

Davis said the bond she formed with other semi-finalists was one of camaraderie, support, and mutual respect.

AN uMhlanga mom, wife and accountant has many missions in life, but for now, she has her heart set on empowering and inspiring individuals by sharing her story and experiences as she embarks on her journey into being a semi-finalist in the Mrs South Africa 2024 pageant.

Candice Davis said she had an early start into motherhood at the age of 17 which reshaped her world and taught her about responsibility, sacrifice and unconditional love.

“Despite the challenges of being a young mom, I returned to school and completed my matric. I then pursued my studies in finance and gained a number of certificates and degrees in the career of tax and accounting.

“I then started my own business and transformed it into the thriving entity it is today, all while balancing the complexities of motherhood, personal health battles, including a courageous fight against cervical cancer, and the challenges of entrepreneurial life,” she said.

While on her journey, Davis has used her personal experiences and lessons to delve into helping those who face challenges in the community, something she will carry through as a semi-finalist in Mrs South Africa 2024.

“It has been an incredible and transformative experience since I took the leap of faith and decided to enter the competition, driven by a desire to represent the values of empowerment, resilience and authenticity. From the moment I made the decision, I embarked on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth, pushing myself beyond my comfort zone and embracing every opportunity for learning and development along the way. It’s been a journey filled with highs and lows, challenges, and triumphs, but through it all, I’ve emerged stronger, more confident, and deeply grateful for the opportunity to represent the incredible women of South Africa on this remarkable platform,” she said.

Being named a semi-finalist was an unforgettable moment for Davis, filled with a whirlwind of emotions as her months of hard work, dedication, and self-discovery had paid off, making the announcement more meaningful.
“Being named a semi-finalist filled me with a renewed sense of purpose and determination to make the most of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to inspire, empower and make a positive impact in the lives of others,” she added.

Davis said the bond she formed with other semi-finalists was one of camaraderie, support, and mutual respect, and they were bonds that extended beyond the competition itself and the various outreach projects that she is involved in through the pageant.

“One of the most rewarding aspects has been the opportunity to connect with fellow semi-finalists, forming deep bonds and friendships along the way.

I’m particularly passionate about supporting underprivileged school sportsmen by raising funds to help them pursue their athletic dreams. Additionally, I have a fundraiser dedicated to my work with schools, aiming to provide resources and support for educational initiatives that empower students to thrive academically and beyond.

I’m also working on initiatives aimed at empowering women and children, providing them with access to education, resources and opportunities for a brighter future,” she added.

Davis will also work with other organisations such as CANSA, the Family Protection Association (FAMPRO) and the South African Child Care Association (SACCA).

The semi-finals take place from July 3 to 5 at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg, while the final event is set for November 12 to 16 at the same venue.
