Frugal fashion fair coming up in Fairways

The fashion fair gives people the opportunity to sell their beautiful clothes to like-minded fashion and sustainability-conscious women and men.

GOOD friends, Vasti Mc Leod and Tania Daniel, have built a fantastic community of women who all love fashion and the idea of sustainability in the industry.

In celebration of this, they’re hosting a fun and fabulous Never New Fashion Fair this Saturday, March 9, from 09:00 to 14:00 at Fairway Guest House in Durban North.

“It’s a fair where women can come and sell their gently worn fashion items – clothes, shoes, accessories and bags – and those in the mood for a wardrobe revamp can come and shop up a storm without breaking the bank,” said Mc Leod.

“All our rails are sold out for this fair. Vendors are hand-picked to ensure that everything on the rails is top quality and will add value to anyone who takes an item home,” she added.

It all started when Mc Leod moved back to South Africa after living in France for five years where she would attend fashion fairs selling all kinds of pre-loved branded and vintage gear. When she returned home, she noticed this gap in the market and decided to do something about it.

“I work in the fashion industry and know so many girls with amazing clothes from all over the world, but we get tired of wearing them and feel too bad to give them away for free. So when I was on maternity leave in 2022, I decided to start the fashion fair. Tania Daniel joined me shortly afterwards as a partner,” she added.

Daniel works in finance, and as much as she is a finance girl, she is also obsessed with fashion and style.

“I lived in Tokyo and also got into vintage shopping and thrifting while I lived there. We love hosting these events, where people can come together for shopping, having bubbly and some great catch-ups,” said Daniel.

Hungry shoppers can tuck into delicious pizza from The Firehouse pop-up and drinks from The Old Tin Can mobile bar which will be on-site during the fair. Entry is R40 a person. Zapper, cash and cards can all be used.
