Suspects apprehended for copper theft in Effingham Heights

The suspects were reported to have stolen copper pipes from the same property on Desai Crescent the day before.

TWO copper theft suspects were nabbed after allegedly stealing copper pipes from a Desai Crescent property recently.
Swift Private Security received an alert last Thursday (February 29) regarding two suspects stealing copper pipes from the residential property and then fleeing towards Effingham Road.
“Swift Private Security officers patrolled the area and located the suspects on Desai Crescent. One of them was apprehended by Swift while the other was caught by another private security firm. These suspects are known for copper theft in Effingham Heights and nearby areas,” said Swift Private Security spokesperson Sanveer Sooklall.
Greenwood Park SAPS arrived at the scene and transported the suspects to the police station.
He added that the same suspects were reported to have stolen copper pipes from the same property on Desai Crescent the day before. They fled after they were disturbed by a neighbour.
In a separate incident on March 1, a resident reported a break-in at their home on Mogul Crescent, Avoca, while they were away on holiday.
“These suspects that we caught were found wearing the residents’ clothes and shoes. The resident plans to open a theft case,” added Sooklall.
