Swift Private Security dispatched multiple vehicles to the location where they found the traumatised driver of the vehicle who said he had accepted a request to fetch two passengers from Durban town who requested to be dropped off on Belmont Road.
“Upon nearing their destination on Belmont Road, the two suspects brandished firearms, demanding the e-hailing driver to bring the vehicle to a halt. Despite their efforts, the suspects failed to force the driver out of his Ford Figo as he fought back,” said Swift Private Security spokesperson Sanveer Sooklall.

The two suspects then fled the scene on foot due to the now-botched hijacking but managed to escape with the driver’s personal belongings.

“While our Swift officers were inspecting the scene, a single ammunition was discovered next to the vehicle and a cellphone which belonged to the suspects. Fortunately, the driver of the vehicle was not injured but was traumatised from this ordeal,” said Sooklall.
The scene was handed over to Greenwood Park SAPS who arrived on scene.
