Selishia Temone Govender succumbed to her injuries in hospital a few hours after the accident.

Her uncle, Jace Nair, said the family is devasted after the loss of Govender. He described her as a free and kind-hearted young woman who had her whole life ahead of her.

“Selishia was very generous. She also had this ability to take any family gathering or event to the next level, adding her professional touch and capturing hearts with her infectious smile,” said Nair.

She worked as a merchandise planner for the Mr Price Group, a job she loved and excelled at.

“She would always share a comforting word and spread her warmth wherever she went. Her absence has left a void that can never be filled,” he added.

Selishia was also engaged and had plans to get married this year to her fiancé, Mason Gounden.

“She was very family-orientated and took care of her parents. She was a strength to her parents and was not a selfish young woman,” added Nair.

Govender died in hospital a few hours before she would turn 32.

Her funeral takes place tomorrow at her home in Phoenix, and her cremation, after that, at Verulam Crematorium.

She leaves behind her parents, Kuban and Charmaine, her brother, Shenolin, her fiancé, Mason, and a host of family and friends.
