Joint operation leads to recovery of boat stolen in uMdloti

The boat was stolen in September last year.

A JOINT operation between the Durban North SAPS Trio Crimes Unit, SAPS Crime Intelligence and Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team (SOT) led to the recovery of a boat stolen from uMdloti in September last year.

The operation also saw the arrest of a suspect in connection to the case on Tuesday afternoon just before 19:00.

According to Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell, the suspect was arrested in KwaNgcolosi area near Inanda Dam.

“Intelligence received led the police and our team to the location. Once the suspect spotted our team members he fled on foot. After a brief foot chase, the suspect was successfully apprehended. Regrettably, two boat motors had already been removed, and the signage on the boat was missing.

“The recovered boat and trailer have been transported back to Durban North SAPS, along with the suspect, for further investigation and processing,” he said.
