Suspect arrested in Durban North with stolen goods

The suspect was detained previously for trespassing.

A SUSPECT in possession of several stolen items was arrested on Adelaide Tambo Drive on Friday.

According to Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell, the same suspect had been detained previously for a trespassing incident on December 12.

“The individual was spotted carrying four plastic chairs under questionable circumstances. Further investigation revealed more suspicious items which he also could not account for, which were in his bag, including a chain, multiple locks and copper pipes.

“The suspect was transported to Durban North SAPS, along with the suspected stolen items, and faces charges of being in possession of suspected stolen goods. His apprehension follows an earlier incident on December 12, where the same individual was detained for trespassing. In the previous encounter, despite being apprehended, the homeowner did not press charges,” he said.

Powell urged residents to report any instances of theft or crime.

“It is essential to report every crime to the SAPS, no matter how small or large, to ensure that appropriate actions are taken and to help prevent future incidents. Reporting all crimes contributes to a safer and more secure community for everyone,” he said.
