Suspected fraudster nabbed in Durban North

The suspect was handed over to the Durban North SAPS.

A MAN was arrested on Wednesday afternoon after being linked to a fraud case involving a credit card.

The suspect had reportedly used the credit card which had been stolen last week.

According to Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell, the suspect was arrested just before 16:00.

“We received a call from a member of the public who needed assistance after recognising a suspect who is wanted for a recent fraud case. The suspect had reportedly used the member of the public’s credit card – after the victim’s wallet was stolen – over the weekend to buy items fraudulently from a well-known supermarket in the Durban North area.

“Our Special Operations Team successfully identified and apprehended the suspect, and he was handed over to the Durban North SAPS. The suspect is facing charges of fraud,” Powell said.

Earlier this month, a suspect linked to several fraud cases was arrested in uMdloti.

“His modus operandi involved soliciting deposits or transportation fees for large industrial equipment, such as forklifts and big generators, which he never actually possessed,” said Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell.
