ALS Paramedics responded to the scene just after 20:00 to find the carnage of a vehicle that had somehow overturned.

“The vehicle came to a rest on its roof on the bend. Paramedics were informed that there were two occupants in the vehicle at the time of the collision. Paramedics assessed the two, both believed to be in their early twenties. A female had sustained major injuries, and unfortunately, there was nothing paramedics could do for her, and she was declared deceased on the scene,” said ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson.

The other occupant of the vehicle, a man, sustained critical injuries.

“He was stabilised on the scene by ALS Paramedics before being rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent care,” he said.

Metro police and SAPS were in attendance and will be investigating the cause of the accident.
