Three arrested on Umhlanga Rocks Drive for shoplifting

The suspects are alleged to have stolen from a service station in the area.

THREE people suspected of shoplifting were arrested on Monday night on Umhlanga Rocks Drive outside a well-known service station in the area.

According to Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell, they arrested the three suspects as they were leaving the service station with their vehicle.

The incident occurred just after 19:00.

“The items taken from the convenience store were recovered from being in their possession. Durban North SAPS were notified and arrived at the scene a short while later. Upon searching the suspects’ vehicle, various clothing items were discovered.

“The suspects were questioned and could not provide a reasonable explanation for possessing these items, leading officers to believe they were stolen from a clothing store,” he said.

Powell added that the suspects are facing charges of shoplifting and being in possession of suspected stolen items.
