Suspect apprehended for copper theft in Umgeni Park

Greenwood Park SAPS is investigating further after transporting the suspect with the possibly stolen goods to the station.

A SUSPECT wanted for two separate copper theft incidents in the Sea Cow Lake area was arrested last night while officers were conducting routine patrols in Umgeni Park.

Marshall Security armed response officers searched the suspect and found him to be in possession of suspected stolen goods.

“An armed response officer identified a suspect wanted for two separate copper theft incidents. These incidents occurred last month and earlier this month. He was searched and then apprehended,” said Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell.

Earlier this month, a suspect was arrested on Umhlanga Rocks Drive after allegedly stealing copper pipes from premises on Cupid Row in the Sunningdale area.

The homeowner also positively identified the suspect who was out on bail for a similar offence committed in Glenashley.
