Stationery drive to enrich lives in Kenville and Sea Cow Lake

The stationery packs will be handed out at the schools in 2024 when schools open for the new term.

MAKING a difference in the lives of youth is what a non-profit organisation and local business have partnered to do.

Prepped 4 Prep, which specialises in stationery sorting and labelling, and The Wellness Centre Trust, joined forces in the Preppi’s Bag of Love campaign three years ago, which sees impoverished schoolchildren receive stationery packs at the beginning of each school year.

They have now launched the campaign for 2024 and are requesting the community’s help to make it all possible once again.

Speaking to Northglen News, co-founder of the campaign, Caron Rademeyer, said it was Magic Johnson’s quote, ‘All kids need is a little help, a little hope and somebody who believes in them’, that kickstarted the initiative.

The packs include art supplies, pens, pencils, calculators, rulers, glue-sticks and basically everything that a child needs to start their junior primary, senior primary and high school year.

“We wanted to make a difference in the children’s lives, but we realised that we could not do it alone so we partnered with The Wellness Centre Trust about three years ago. This year, our aim is to donate 1 900 stationery packs to children at Kenville Primary School and Sea Cow Lake Secondary School,” said Rademeyer.

She added that providing the children with the right tools to start their schooling year will be the platform that helps them achieve their heart’s desires.

“We heard stories of how some learners don’t have scientific calculators so they borrow from their friends in the class, but once they’re home, it means they can’t complete their homework. Each bag will have a calculator for the high school learners, so this will hopefully alleviate the stress for them,” she said.

Eloise Briggerman, founder of The Wellness Centre Trust, said the organisation was proud to partner with Prepped for Prep once again.

“We hope that these stationery packs will bring hope and equip the children with what they need for a brighter future,” she said.
