Repeat offender arrested for copper cable theft in Sunningdale

The repeat offender was out on bail when he stole the copper pipes.

A SUSPECT was arrested on Umhlanga Rocks Drive after allegedly stealing copper pipes from premises on Cupid Row in the Sunningdale area on Tuesday afternoon.

Marshall Security’s armed response officers received the alert and a description of the suspect and were asked to be on the lookout.

“After an extensive search of the area, the suspect was spotted on the corner of Umhlanga Rocks Drive and Village Way with copper pipes in his possession and was immediately apprehended,” said Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell.

“The homeowner also positively identified the suspect. The same suspect was apprehended by our team in February for a similar offence in the Glenashley area and was currently out on bail,” he added.

Durban North SAPS have opened a theft case.
