Get involved in the Caxton Big Draw Competition

To commemorate the month of The Big Draw, the world’s largest drawing festival, Caxton Local Media is calling readers to submit their drawings before the end of October. We will choose the best ones and share your drawings with our readers.

IF you didn’t know already, October is the month of The Big Draw, the world’s largest drawing festival held every year from October 1 to 31. It was created to promote visual literacy and art education and was founded by The Campaign for Drawing in the UK in 2000.

The festival first took place in London in 2001, with only one event taking place on a single day. Two events were held over four days in 2002, and it has since grown exponentially each year, with hundreds of events held across the UK, as well as internationally. Since then, the festival has grown to include a diverse range of activities, such as workshops, classes and exhibitions.

The month-long campaign allows us to realise our passions for drawing and express our thoughts and emotions through visual art. Similarly, it helps us develop our visual skills. The best thing about this special time is that it is not only for highly skilled artists, but ordinary people can also join in and have fun.

To commemorate the month of The Big Draw, Caxton Local Media is calling readers to submit their drawings to us before the end of October. We will choose the best one and share your drawing with our readers. You don’t have to be a skilled artist – the goal is to have fun, take a stab at it and draw something that is special to you. Email us your drawing, with your name, surname and contact number, and you could be named as the winner!
Email your drawing/s to nial@dbn.caxton.co.za
