Horse and trailer jackknifes near M4 Virginia off-ramp

A truck carrying a piece of metal too big for the trailer jackknifed near the Virginia off-ramp on the Ruth First Highway this morning.

MOTORISTS are urged to avoid using the M4 northbound near the Virginia off-ramp after a horse and trailer jackknifed, affecting both lanes in the early hours of Monday morning.
According to Marshall Security’s Andreas Mathios, who is at the scene, the southbound lane was opened at about 07:40, however, the northbound lane will remain closed for the next few hours.

“SAPS, Metro Police and Marshall Security are at the scene. It is believed that the truck was carrying a piece of steel that was too large for the trailer which may have caused it to jackknife. Authorities are trying to devise a plan on how to remove the truck,” he said.
The scene is still active. Motorists are urged to use alternate routes.
