Enjoy a cinematic musical extravaganza at Northwood

The play, which features several learners from the school, will also see learners from various other schools in the area perform.

BILLED as a musical extravaganza, featuring songs from popular culture movies, the excitement is building for Northwood School’s CineVerse show which opens on Thursday.

The play, which features several learners from the school, will also see learners from Our Lady of Fatima, Crawford International La Lucia College, Danville Park Girls’ High and Northlands Girls’ High perform.

Northglen News caught up with some of the performers ahead of this week’s show to get a sense of what to expect.

Matriculant Jesse Hartman said audiences can expect greatness over the three days.

“There is a bit of everything for everyone. We have music, dancing and acting, and we blend them together for a real spectacle. Audiences can expect greatness. There are a number of songs people will know, so we hope the community will come out and support local theatre and have a fun night out. This is my final year at school, and there are a few of my fellow Grade 12 learners who want to leave with some great memories, so we hope our performances really shine through,” he said.

Fellow learner Zario Di Paolo, who is playing a host of different characters, concurred with Hartman.

“My message to the audience is to feast their eyes on something brilliant because this show only comes around once a year. We want to amaze the audience and bring them to their feet over the course of three evenings,” he said.

Sphephelo Ntshangase, who plays Apollo Creed in the show, said he, too, is looking forward to the show.

“I can’t give away too much about my character. Let’s just say it’s a surprise and one I think the audience is going to love. We urge the community to come out and support us. This is a show not to be missed, and as our tagline says, it will be a ‘cinematic musical extravaganza’,” he said.
