Greenwood Park SAPS holds drug and crime prevention campaign

Various stakeholders partnered to make the awareness campaign a success.

GREENWOOD Park SAPS, together with other external stakeholders, held a crime awareness day at Kenville High School last Friday.

“Police officers handed out pamphlets sensitising the schoolchildren on substance abuse, teenage pregnancy, bullying and sexual offences and related matters,” said Greenwood Park SAPS spokesperson Constable Zenzele Chonco.

Stakeholders who attended were Safer Cities, Nicro, ABM, UKZN physiotherapist students, the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Health, Refocus and Upliftment Foundation (RAUF) and The Foundation of Love.

A recovering substance abuse addict gave a testimony on what they had experienced with drug addiction.

Children were later quizzed regarding what they had learned from all the talks and were given prizes for their answers.

“Greenwood Park SAPS thanks all sponsors, including those who assisted with refreshments, and Kenville High School for allowing the children to attend the campaign and for doing their part in the fight against crime through social crime prevention,” said Constable Chonco.
