Man shot dead in alleged business robbery on Chris Hani Road

The man sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the incident on Monday afternoon.

A MAN has been shot dead after an alleged business robbery on Chris Hani Road on Monday afternoon.

According to Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell, the man, believed to be in his 50s, was shot multiple times in the incident.

“It is believed that around eight suspects entered a business on Chris Hani Road (North Coast Road) before 16:00. The suspects robbed the staff of cash and cellphones. In their attempted getaway, they opened fire on a man who was exiting his vehicle as the suspects fled,” he said.

Powell added it is unclear if the suspects escaped on foot or used a getaway vehicle.

Emer-G Med paramedics spokesperson Kyle van Reenen said paramedics responded to the scene just minutes after the alleged robbery.

“On arrival on scene, a male, aged in his fifties, was found to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was declared dead on arrival of paramedics. Reports from the scene are that the man was shot in an alleged armed robbery incident,” he said.
