Support Durban North school chari-‘tee’ golf tournament

The fundraiser will also give the school a chance to raise funds for planned future sport development and other sporting projects.

NORTHLANDS Girls’ High School Trust has a fundraising golf day planned for Friday, June 23 at the Royal Durban Golf Club.

Part of the funds raised will go to The Domino Foundation, a Durban North-based organisation that the school has been involved with for several years.

Golfers will be happy to learn that the highlight is a R250 000 cash prize to anyone who hits a hole in one on the 12th hole.

Arlette Lazarus, the school’s marketing manager, said the Northlands girls and staff have been moved by the plight of the beneficiaries for The Domino Foundation.

“The golf day is raising funds so that we can be part of changing the lives of vulnerable fellow South Africans. The money raised from the event will go towards Domino Babies’ Home and the school’s sporting projects,” she said.
Morne Carter, a trustee of Northlands Girls’ High School Trust said the fundraiser will not only assist the Domino Babies’ Home but the learners of the school, as well, who have an interest in sports and culture.

“Events such as this allow us to give back to the community and to assist learners in their interests in extra-curricular activities, such as sport. Learners must be given the opportunity to excel academically and also in sport. This is the culture of Northlands’ Girls High, and if we don’t hold such events to promote sports, together with academics, this culture will fall away,” said Carter.

Principal of the school Theven Reddy echoed the sentiments of Carter and further stated that the fundraiser was also about building relationships.

“Besides fundraising, it’s important for the school to build relationships with the private and business sectors and the community. A school always needs support from all stakeholders to move forward,” said Reddy.

Golfers are invited to register for a fourball at a cost of R2 500. There are also a number of corporate sponsorship opportunities still available.
