Athletes show core strength at Durban’s WodWars

The competition brought athletes from around the country to compete across several events between two locations.

ORGANISERS of the third edition of Durban’s WodWars have hailed the event as a success.

Durban North resident Ryan ‘Stretch’ Brennan, who helped coordinate the event from Koshin CrossFit, said 75 teams from around the country competed for the Facility Cup.

The competition brought athletes from around the country to compete across several events between two locations, namely the Rachel Finlayson and Varsity College Durban North’s main field.

The Sandton Lions, a team from the Sandton Fitness Centre in Johannesburg, walked away with the top prize.

“The vibe, the number of teams and the overall level of competition were heightened this year. It was incredible to witness as we had teams from all over the country and one from Zimbabwe that travelled down specifically for the competition. Our goal for next year is to grow the event and have more spectators come watch the action.

“Our aim and goal was to put on what we hope was the most fun, inclusive competition, and I think we achieved that. Another positive was seeing the camaraderie and spirit of everyone involved. After teams had completed their events, they all stuck around to cheer on other teams,” he said.
