Last day to register for the Durban Business Fair

This year’s DBF promises to be bigger and better, featuring more opportunities for business connections and linkages. The six days will encompass an exhibition, empowerment engagements, innovation activities, business pitch competitions and much more.

THE eThekwini Municipality has advised businesses who wish to be part of the 25th Durban Business Fair (DBF) jubilee celebration to register before the closing date, which is Friday, April 28.

The 25th DBF installment is taking place at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre and the Durban Exhibition Centre from September 19 to 24.

eThekwini mayor Councillor Mxolisi Kaunda said the DBF platform is one of many economic development programmes the City has to ensure that small and medium businesses remain active and are included in the radical economic participation of the City’s economy.

The DBF has positively impacted businesses over the past 24 years.

Futhi Mkhize, founder of Dr Phyto Health Shop, said her journey with the Municipality started in 2012. She has exhibited at all the DBF’s since then.

“I benefited from their women empowerment programme where I received a bursary to study Phytomedicine and Ethnomedicine at the University of Pretoria. From there, my business has grown from strength to strength. I have also received other skills development training from the Municipality.”

Mkhize has a manufacturing plant which produces skin care products and herbal pills.

“With all the assistance and exposure I received from the Municipality, my products are now available at Spar Pharmacy and the Durban Fashion Fair Emporium both located in uMlazi Mega City as week as the Cosmix Health and Beauty Shop in Field Street and several beauty and healthy shops in Pietermaritzburg. My shop is based at Ithala building in V Section in uMlazi.”
